Frequently asked questions about the Schneider MBA program

Admission

Are there other entry points to the MBA program, besides fall and spring semester?

Yes, there are opportunities to enroll in the Schneider School's MBA program during summer sessions or at mid-semester. We make every effort to accommodate the needs of our admitted students with regard to entry points.

How many years of business experience are required?

We prefer a minimum of two years of business experience. However, fit in the MBA program is assessed on multiple criteria and, with the dean’s approval, exceptions may be made.

Do I need to have an undergraduate degree in business administration?

No. About half of successful MBA candidates do not have an undergraduate business degree. MBA applicants are required to have previously earned a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited institution.

When and where are MBA classes held?

We offer a flexible, part-time master of business administration degree with our MBA night classes usually held on campus in De Pere, Wis., weekday evenings, Monday through Thursday. Because classroom discussion is an essential component of the MBA program’s learning experience, online classes are generally not offered except in case of emergency. For example, classes were brought online in Spring 2020 in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

What if I need to miss a class?

Classroom attendance policies are set at the discretion of faculty; there is not a general attendance policy that applies broadly to the program. It is recommended that any schedule conflicts be discussed with faculty prior to enrolling in an MBA course.

How many total credits are required to complete the MBA program?

Thirty-seven credits are required for to earn an MBA master's degree.

How long will the MBA program take to complete?

Each student sets his or her own pace for the MBA program, based on personal and professional schedules. MBA credit requirements can be completed in two years if a steadfast pace is pursued and more than one course is taken in most eight-week sessions. We recommend that completion of the MBA program take no longer than seven years, barring special circumstances.

Transfer credits

Will courses from another MBA program transfer in? If so, how many?

Courses from other MBA programs may be considered upon individual review. Except under special circumstances, a maximum of 6 credits can be transferred.

What is the process for approving transferable courses?

At the request of the applicant, the dean will review an applicant’s official transcript(s) and determine if courses are transferable. Final approval will be at the dean’s discretion.
