Zhuoyi (Zoe) Zhao teaches accounting information systems, accounting data analytics, managerial accounting, cost accounting and financial accounting. Her role as an instructor resembles a tour guide who leads student tourists into the modern accounting world where conventional concepts and emerging technologies clash.
She has taught in East Asia, the Middle East and North America. Her courses incorporate elements of diversity, equity and inclusivity (DE&I), and she strives to provide her students with a personalized learning experience that promotes critical thinking, creativity and resilience. Being a supporter of whole person development, Zhuoyi (Zoe) helps her students to explore career possibilities that are rooted in their own identities.
Zhuoyi (Zoe) is a member of professional associations including Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA), American Accounting Association (AAA) and Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). She also serves on the DE&I committee of IMA and the Cassandra Voss Center Advisory Board at St. Norbert College.
Drawing on psychology, neuroscience and economic theories, Zhuoyi (Zoe) investigates how novel management and control techniques such as gamification may impact motivation, project management and ethical decision making. She is also exploring the role of self-organized work in the post pandemic business world.
