Yuan (Sabrina) Du is an assistant professor of business administration in finance in the Donald J. Schneider School of Business & Economics. She completed her undergraduate education in computer science and her master's training in financial engineering. Du received her Ph.D. in risk management and insurance from Temple University. She enjoys teaching a wide variety of topics in finance and risk management and insurance. She has taught introduction to risk management and insurance and risk financing at the undergraduate level. Her pedagogical philosophy emphasizes active learning and student-centered approach.
Du’s research interests pertain to insurance economics across both micro and macro levels. Her current research lies in the intersection between industrial organization and insurance economics, with a focus on market structure and competition. Her dissertation research uses a structural approach to model market-entry activities and product competition in the insurance market. She has presented her papers at both national and international conferences, and she was awarded the Best Presentation in Early Young Researchers at the Simon Conference, 2019. Her most recent publication appeared in the Asia Pacific Journal of Risk and Insurance, the Journal of Applied Finance and Banking, and Ivey Publishing.
Du is a member of the American Economic Association, Financial Management Association, American Risk & Insurance Association, Asian Pacific Risk & Insurance Association, and other professional associations.
She enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, running, and skiing, as well as theme park visits with her family.
