About Eliot Elfner

A mainstay in St. Norbert’s management curriculum for 43 years, Eliot Elfner retired in May 2014 as professor emeritus of business administration after teaching 86 semesters. He currently serves as an adjunct instructor of the internship course for accounting, business and economics students.

Prior to his academic career, Eliot was an industrial engineer in the paper converting industry and a Registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin from 1967 to 2014. In recent years he has worked with more than 15 institutions of higher education and outside organizations in various capacities, giving presentations, leading numerous consulting projects and serving on several business’ boards of directors.

Scholarship and research interests

Eliot’s research focuses on pedagogical strategies for improving student learning, as well as integrating evidence-based and quantitative strategies into managerial problem-solving activities. In addition to being an esteemed presenter at many conferences, he has contributed chapters to two books about using student outcomes to improve student learning, and published numerous papers in various conference proceedings.

Eliot’s service to St. Norbert was extensive, holding elected and appointed positions on many college-wide and faculty committees. During his tenure he assumed several administrative and governance roles, including chair/associate dean of the Social Science division for eight years and director of the Business Administration discipline. He also has participated as a faculty representative on several board of trustees committees.

A past member of multiple professional and academic associations, Eliot recently was appointed to the board of trustees for Bellin College in Green Bay, served on the Junior Achievement Wisconsin Business Hall of Fame selection committee in 2019 and presently serves as a mediator for the Mediation Center of Green Bay. His service to the college continues today, serving as the retired faculty representative on the college-wide Benefits Advisory Committee.
