About Sachin Shivaram

Sachin has followed a passion for metals through a career path where he has worked in a wide variety of roles of increasing responsibility in the metals industry.

He began his career at ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steel company. He started out as an intern helping to remove industrial waste from a plant site and eventually rose to be Head of Strategy & Marketing for a $10 billion business unit with production facilities across North and South America. Then he moved on to Severstal North America, where he managed global metallics procurement and sales. With six integrated steel production facilities in the US, Severstal was among the largest consumers of steel scrap, pig iron, and metal alloys in the United States. Following the sale of Severstal’s North American plants, Sachin joined a customer, Tenaris, to lead a business unit focused on supplying steel pipe to oil drilling operations in Oklahoma and Texas.

In 2016, Sachin was recruited to lead a turnaround effort at Samuel Pressure Vessel Group (PVG), based in Marinette, Wisconsin. PVG is a division of Samuel Son & Co. – a global family-owned metal manufacturer. As President of PVG, Sachin drove operational efficiencies through automation, reduced raw material costs through improved procurement practices, and opened new markets for the company’s products.

Following the successful turnaround of PVG, Sachin spearheaded Samuel’s acquisition of two metals companies: Main Steel based in Chicago and Sierra Aluminum based in Riverside, California. Sachin helped set in a motion a strategy of capital investment to expand production capabilities.

In 2019, Sachin was recruited to join Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry (WAF) as the company’s first non-family CEO. At WAF, Sachin has earned a reputation for being a business leader who builds positive relationships with all stakeholders of the business. He earned trust with the company’s three labor unions, brought energy to managerial ranks, created excitement about the company in the local community, and put shareholders at ease that the family’s century-old legacy will continue to thrive.

Sachin lives in De Pere, Wisconsin with his wife Lipi and two young sons. He is active in the community and serves on various boards, including the Wisconsin Council on Workforce Investment and is a Trustee of Lawrence University. Other professional activities include teaching a course on “Busines Ethics & Values-Based Leadership” in the MBA program at St. Norbert College and serving on the Board of Directors of Lodge Manufacturing Inc. He was also elected as Town Supervisor of Ledgeview, WI.
